HENS & FORKS
|
Festival BOLZANO DANZA 2010 Premiere HENS & FORKS Receiving an upbring and learning manners are acts of becoming human. The body is disciplined; it is subjected to countless techniques of power. Manners are authoritarian, they are non-negotiable, you either have them or you don’t. They must be learnt, practiced and mastered. An individual’s “visible forms” always represent more than he himself is. He represents his family, his class, his faith, his country. For centuries, manners have constituted a set of rules intended to make human coexistence trouble-free and pleasant. “Hens & Forks” explores what remains of the good old rules of conduct. The performers track down manners in the real life of different cultural communities. Oscillating between nature and physical discipline they present an exciting and entertaining picture of the occidental way of life.
